Hi, I’m Keshav Chouhan. I test ChatGPT and Gemini photo prompts every week and publish the ones that hold a face.
Vat Purnima 2027 falls on Friday, 18 June, on Jyeshtha Purnima. Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa keep it on the full moon; North Indian families observe Vat Savitri on Jyeshtha Amavasya about 15 days earlier, so check which one your family follows.
Almost every Vat Purnima prompt set online is shot at golden hour under a banyan tree. Purnima means full moon, so one of the prompts below is built around moonlight, one around the harsh dappled light you actually get at 11 am under a tree, and one around a 6 am mist. All eight name a camera, a lens and a light direction.
Vat Purnima prompt for ChatGPT
The seven circles around the trunk are the heart of the vrat, one for each lifetime. This shoots it from the far side of the banyan so the trunk cuts the frame and you appear through the aerial roots mid-walk.

Prompt
Keep the face from the uploaded reference exactly as it is: same bone structure, eye shape, brows, lip line, skin tone and skin marks. The same woman walks her seventh round around a huge banyan trunk at 6 am during Vat Purnima, holding a length of raw white thread taut behind her, already wound several times around the bark. Camera placed on the far side of the tree so a thick aerial root crosses the foreground out of focus and she is seen through the gap, mid-stride, saree pallu lifting. Green nauvari saree with a gold border, chandrakor kunku, nath, stacked green glass bangles, mogra gajra in a low bun. Cool early light with mist at the roots, one warm shaft through the canopy on her shoulder. Shot on Canon EOS R5, 35mm f/1.4. Deep greens, visible bark texture, real skin, no smoothing. Aspect ratio 4:5. Place mbapromptwala.com as a thin white semi-transparent watermark bottom-left.
Red Saree Vat Purnima prompt
All 11 prompts on this page are in a free PDF you can keep on your phone at the tree: download the Vat Purnima prompt PDF. The prompt below is the one built for print, so the output holds up framed: full length, clean background, 3:4 at high detail, nothing in frame to date it.

Prompt
Preserve the uploaded person’s identity with no change to features or complexion. Full-length standing portrait of the same woman against a plain lime-washed wall in soft indoor light, holding a brass puja thali at waist height with haldi, kumkum, rice, a small coconut and a folded bamboo vinjhna on it. Deep maroon Paithani silk saree with a peacock-motif zari pallu, pearl nath, green bangles, thin gold waistband, bare feet on a red oxide floor. Weight on one leg, calm direct gaze, shoulders square. A single large window off camera left as the only light, soft falloff to the right, no other props and nothing modern in frame. Shot on Hasselblad X2D, 90mm f/3.2. Neutral grade, true fabric weave, gallery print quality. Aspect ratio 3:4. Add mbapromptwala.com in thin white lettering bottom-left.
Vat Purnima prompt Gemini
Gemini holds a face better with short prompts and loses detail when you stack clauses. So this one is deliberately compact: hands, bark, thread, bangles, nothing else.

Prompt
Keep the uploaded face and hands identical to the reference. Tight macro frame of the same woman’s hands winding raw white thread around rough banyan bark, fingers pressed to the trunk, green glass bangles and mehndi visible, thread already crossed several times over the bark. Deep bark texture, one blurred saree edge in the corner. Soft overcast morning light from the left. Shot on Nikon Z8, 105mm macro, focus on the knuckles. Natural skin, no retouching. Aspect ratio 1:1. Watermark mbapromptwala.com bottom-left in thin white type.
Vat Purnima couple photo prompt
The husband has a real place in this ritual and most prompt sets forget him. She fans the tree with the bamboo vinjhna while he stands behind holding the thali, shot from a low angle through the hanging roots.

Prompt
Carry both uploaded faces across unchanged, with no alteration to either person’s features, proportions or skin tone. The same couple at the base of a banyan tree during Vat Purnima. She crouches at the trunk fanning it with a bamboo vinjhna, looking up and back over her shoulder towards him. He stands a step behind in a plain cream cotton kurta and dhoti, holding the brass thali in both hands, looking down at her with a slight smile. Green and gold silk saree, nath, green bangles, thread already tied around the trunk. Camera low, almost at root level, with hanging aerial roots framing both sides. Morning sun behind the canopy throwing broken light patches. Shot on Nikon Z8, 50mm f/1.2. Warm greens, both faces sharp, real fabric and bark detail. Aspect ratio 4:5. Sign it with mbapromptwala.com in thin white type at the bottom-left.
Vat Purnima AI prompt using the actual full moon
The vrat falls on a full moon, so use it. Late evening, the moon rising through the banyan canopy, a single oil lamp at the roots. This is the frame that stands out on a feed of golden-hour portraits.
Prompt
Hold the uploaded identity exactly, with no change to any feature. Night frame under a vast banyan tree on Vat Purnima. The same woman sits on the raised platform at the base of the trunk, one hand shielding a lit clay lamp, face turned up towards a large full moon rising through gaps in the canopy behind her. Dark green silk saree, gold nath, bangles catching the lamp light, white thread visible around the trunk beside her. Two light sources only: the lamp warm on her face and hands from below, and cool blue moonlight through the leaves rimming her shoulder and the bark. Everything else black. Shot on Sony A7R V, 24mm f/1.4, long exposure feel with the moon held in detail. Warm amber against deep blue, heavy shadow, fine grain. Aspect ratio 4:5. Add mbapromptwala.com as a thin white watermark bottom-left.
Vat Purnima prompt for Instagram in 9:16
A getting-ready frame instead of the puja itself, which is what performs on reels. Arm raised, small mirror, kunku going on, bangles stacked to the elbow. Shoot it 9:16 for the cover and crop to 4:5 for the feed.
Prompt
Reproduce the uploaded face with no modification to structure, features or tone. Vertical frame of the same woman getting ready on the morning of Vat Purnima, standing at a small round mirror propped on a wooden shelf, right arm raised as she places chandrakor kunku on her forehead, left hand holding the pallu. Fifteen green glass bangles stacked up the forearm, mogra strands and a nath waiting on the shelf beside a steel kunku box. Green and cream silk saree, hair half tied. Hard morning sun through a grille window throwing a patterned shadow across the wall and her arm. Shot on Fujifilm X100VI, fixed 23mm, from slightly low. Warm highlights, cool shadows, punchy contrast, leave clean space at the top for a caption. Aspect ratio 9:16. Add mbapromptwala.com bottom-left in thin white lettering.
Vat Purnima prompt Gemini images can use to fix your real photo
Real Vat Purnima photos come out blotchy because 11 am light under a banyan is dappled, and the leaf shadows land on faces. Upload the actual photo and use this to fix the light without redrawing anyone.
Prompt
Edit the uploaded photograph without regenerating anyone. Keep every face, pose, outfit, the tree and the background exactly as shot. Even out the dappled leaf shadows falling across the faces so skin tone reads consistently, without flattening the light elsewhere in the frame. Recover the blown highlight patches on the saree and the bark. Lift shadows slightly and push them cool green, hold skin warm. Drop saturation by 10 percent, then bring greens and the saree colour back up on their own. Dodge the faces gently, burn the frame edges. Remove background clutter: plastic bags, parked bikes, stray wires. Keep pores, stray hair and fabric weave, no smoothing. Keep the original aspect ratio. Add mbapromptwala.com as a delicate white watermark bottom-left.
Vat Purnima couple poses you can swap into any prompt above
Four pose lines. Paste one in place of the pose sentence in any prompt and keep the rest as it is.
The thread pass: she holds one end of the raw thread against the bark while he passes the spool around the far side of the trunk, both leaning in, only their hands meeting in frame.
Charan sparsh: she bends to touch his feet after the puja while he reaches down to stop her mid-motion, caught at the moment neither has finished the gesture.
Shared thali: both hold opposite rims of the brass thali between them, the lamp flame lighting the underside of two faces, foreheads almost level.
Seventh round: he stands still at the trunk while she completes her last circle, so he is sharp and she is a slight motion blur passing behind the tree.
How to use these prompts
Open ChatGPT or Gemini, upload one sharp front-facing photo, paste a prompt as written and send both together. For the couple prompts, upload a single photo with both faces clearly visible. If a face drifts, ask for a regenerate with the same faces and nothing else changed.
Tips for a cleaner result
Put the face instruction first. Both models weight the opening line heavily.
Name the saree style along with the colour. Ask for nauvari or Paithani with a zari border and you get real drape. Ask for “traditional saree” and you get a generic lehenga-saree hybrid.
Green glass bangles, nath and chandrakor kunku are what make the frame read as Vat Purnima rather than any festival portrait. The models drop all three unless you name them.
Say raw white thread. Left alone the model ties a red and yellow mauli, which is the wrong thread for this vrat.
Change one thing per attempt. A new outfit, background and light in one follow-up breaks the face.

FAQ
Which date should I use, Purnima or Amavasya?
Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa observe Jyeshtha Purnima, 18 June in 2027. North Indian families keep Vat Savitri on Jyeshtha Amavasya, roughly 15 days before. The prompts work for both.
Why do the hands come out wrong in the thread prompts?
Hands wrapped around a trunk are the hardest thing for both models. Crop tighter so fewer fingers are visible, or use the macro prompt above, which gives the model less to get wrong.
Can I use these without a reference photo?
Yes, delete the face instruction and the model will invent a person. Keeping your own face is the point of these, so upload one.
